He is the creator and editor of Best Practices for Adventist Ministry, a widely-read email newsletter for pastors published by the North American Division. He writes widely for church publications, and is an essayist for Spectrum magazine. He is a graduate of Walla Walla College and Andrews University, and earned his doctorate at the San Francisco Theological Seminary. His wife, Carmen, a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, is also a pastor serving in hospice chaplaincy. Together they like to travel, read, visit antique shops, and enjoy their flower garden and pets.Jim Lorenz has been serving as a pastor in the Northern California Conference for nearly 20 years. After earning his Master of Divinity at Andrews University, he served as pastor of the Antelope Hills/Rio Linda district, the associate pastor of the Roseville church, and the pastor of the Sacramento-Woodside church. He is currently the senior pastor of the Pleasant Hill church. Lorenz balances his time between pursuing his Doctor of Ministry degree through Andrews University and spending time with his wife, Julie, and their two children, James and Judy.
